Piranha solution is dangerous, poisonous, highly corrosive and I don't recommend you use it unless you are trained in its use. (Disclaimer: Im just sharing an experience. Also, when in contact with organic material it is highly exothermic, it gets hot.) ![]() Imagine dropping a 35lb circular blade, so sharp it makes the finest straight razor want to give up, from table height!! Toes, fingers, lower finger, or anything else that gets in its way you will suddenly have 2 of. The outer most set of hole on the blade can be used with a set of steel pins to make installing a blade less dangerous. I have had to use piranha solution on extremely stubborn stuff before and it works great. Just let me know! As for cleaning, most degreasers should work. I have a few tools specific to slicers and have a few wrenches for blade drive pins around here and if I have the one you need I'll over-night it to you (provided I get it back when you are done of course). Take a measurement between pin holes and let me know what it is. The wrench you need is similar to what is used on angle grinders to hold cut-off wheels in place. ![]() After a couple minutes, the exchange with the owner went like this: The next morning, I drove over to that pawn shop, and was looking around. He told me about this event later at lunch. The man left with the meat slicer and my coworker left shortly after. "$50 or take your meat slicer and get out." How many people do you think I have coming in here looking for meat slicers? None!" "I'm a small pawn shop in the middle of nowhere. The guy set it on the counter, the shop owner looked at it, and the conversation went like this: He was just in there to see if they had any obscure guitar stuff, and was looking around when a man who appeared to like illicit substances came in carrying a meat slicer. One morning, my coworker walked down the road to a pawn shop. This was at the height of the Pawn Stars craze. Several years ago, a coworker and I were working in a place out west. Search: "Valano Berkel Slicer" and check out the restored flywheel prices! Some bring upwards of $25k if they have the stand. Want a crazy eye full? Search google for a restored Berkel slicer. It is getting shipped BACK to Italy in January to be restored by the a company who deals strictly in old Berkel slicers. I tried telling her what it was and she told me to take it since, in her opinion, what were the odds someone else would know what to do with it. I jokingly said ,"looks like a hundred bucks to me!" and the daughter said "sold!" Everyone scratched their heads and asked what it was. It was still in the crate and the family was opening it when I walked by. The flywheel is from the same place as the first one and was also brought home from Europe. The second one came up a week after I bought the first and is a US version so I just couldn't leave it alone lol. There was more grease and crap in the thing than I imagined was possible. I think I gave $40 for it and slowly started cleaning it up. That slicer, came back from Europe where he had bought a whole deli that was closing and shipped it back. He was well known for going to Europe and bringing back full shipping containers of antiques, etc. On the pair of twin 910's, the left one I got from a gentleman's estate whom I knew from auctions and similar events.
